The entry of Reliance Jio in the telecom sector was clearlya positive disruptor for the customers. Right after the launch of the Jionetwork to the public, incumbents like Bharti Airtel and Vodafone responded tothe competition by launching new offers at competitive prices.

Bharti Airtel, one of the leading telecom companies in thecountry, has released another major 4G plan for its new subscribers. To retainthe market share, the telecom company is consistently launching new 4G plans asa response to the newly launched Reliance Jio.  According to this new plan, users who own anew 4G capable smartphone can get 10GB of 4G data at a price of Rs 259.

To avail the offer, the user will have to subscribe to an Airtelservice within 30 days of the new smartphone's purchase and recharge theiraccount with Rs 259. According to the official website, the user willimideately get 1GB of $G data right after the recharge and the rest of the 9GBcan be availed by downloading the MyAirtel app and claiming the additional data.

Each user will be able to use this particular plan thricewithin a period of 90 days and the validity for each recharge will be 28 days.

Similar to Airtel, Vodafone had also released a 10GB 4G dataplan which has a similar period and validity. Clearly, Jio's launch hastriggered a war of tariffs in the telecom sector. The three months of unlimiteddata has seen a lot  of consumersshifting to the new network. Most of these new plans are for limited time andmight get revised once Jio switches to paid data.

Airtel and Vodafone reduced their data costs by almost 80percent since the launch of Jio and other companies like Idea and BSNL havealso pulled up their sleeves with new 3G data plans that are more than 60percent cheaper than what they offered a couple of months back.
