Samsung Note 7 tragedy: Everything you need to know

Samsung Note 7 tragedy: Everything you need to know

The incidents have shown a terrible impact on the company's image and it also lost a huge amount in shares.

Galaxy Note 7 is the hottest topic in the tech world right now and quite literally. As of September 1, the company had announced 35 cases of explosive Note 7 devices. After the announcement, there have been numerous other reports suggesting that the numbers have swollen manifold.

The South Korean tech giant responded to the problem by reaching out to all Note 7 customers. The incidents also had a terrible impact on the company's shares.

For now here's what the South-Korean company is planning to do:

  • In India, the company was lucky enough not to have released the device. The official press release of the company states, "In response to recent cases reported globally of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue. As our customers' safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have delayed the sales of Galaxy Note7 in India"
  • Globally, the company has called for a recall which is under process. Users can go to any Samsung service center to return the device and get a replacement as soon as stocks are refreshed.
  • Despite the recall, the company is receiving numerous complaints. In light of this, the company will be rolling out a new update, a quick fix. This fix will restraint the battery capacity to 60 percent, which Samsung claims, will reduce the chance of any blast or any mishap with the phones battery.
  • The company has strongly advised Note 7 owners to return the phone to customer service centers and owners have also been requested to keep the phones shut until then.
  • Numerous airlines and aviation regulators have prohibited Galaxy Note 7 inside flights.
  • A few countries have asked the company to stop selling new devices till the issue is completely resolved.
