Railways' freight traffic fell by 7.7 per cent in June. This was better than the degrowth witnessed in the preceding two months.
Coal traffic declined by 30.6 per cent in May. The extent of contraction was restricted to 23.1 per cent in June.
Railways' freight of iron ore contracted -6.5 per cent in June, which was an improvement from -29 per cent in May.
Cement and food grains traffic recorded double digit YoY growth. It recorded a growth of 18.7 per cent in June, while in April it contracted 90.6 per cent.
Container service traffic contracted 16 per cent YoY in June. It had contracted by more than 19 per cent and 14 per cent YoY in May and April 2020, respectively.
Traffic of steel, cement, food grains, fertilisers, POL products led the uptick in Railway traffic in June. They posted a growth of 36.8 per cent from drastic degrowth in previous months.
