Sudha Murty, author-philanthropist and Rajya Sabha MP, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Ratan Tata, calling it "the end of an era." Reflecting on his life, she described Tata as a man of immense integrity, simplicity, and compassion. Speaking from Bengaluru, Murty said, "In my life, I met him (Ratan Tata), a man of integrity and simplicity, always caring for others and compassionate. I really miss him. I don't think in my experience I met anyone like him." Murty emphasized how important integrity was to Tata, stating, "He had enormous patience and was a simple man. Integrity was central to who he was." She also credited Tata for inspiring her philanthropic endeavors, saying, "I learned philanthropy in the House of Tatas only. His influence has left a lasting mark on my life." For Murty, Tata's death is not only a national loss but also a personal one, leaving her feeling a deep sense of emptiness.
