Dubai experienced an extraordinary deluge on Tuesday, receiving a year's worth of rain in a single day. The resulting flash floods inundated the city, transforming roads into rivers and homes into islands. The Dubai International Airport was particularly affected, with the runway submerged under water, resembling an expansive ocean. Flight operations were suspended for nearly half an hour due to the extreme conditions. Within a span of 12 hours, the airport received close to 100 mm of rainfall, totaling 160 mm over 24 hours. To put this into perspective, Dubai typically records an average of 88.9 mm of rain in an entire year. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the airport issued an advisory on Wednesday morning, urging travelers to refrain from visiting unless absolutely necessary.
