Gujarat phase 1 election 2022: Over 60.20 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the first phase of polling in Gujarat, according to the Election Commission. In the first phase, 89 assembly seats were up for grabs.
Till 3 pm, Tapi had recorded the highest turnout followed by Narmada. Morbi, Navsari, Gir Somnath, Bharuch, Dangs, and Valsad recorded over 50 per cent turnout. Jamnagar witnessed the lowest polling, where 42.44 people turned up for voting.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently holding a mega roadshow in Ahmedabad. Earlier in the day, he targeted Congress for attacking him. He said the Congress does not accept the existence of Lord Ram, does not believe in Ayodhya's Ram Mandir.
"They have a problem with Ram Setu as well. Now, this Congress party has brought Ravan from Ramayan to say bad words about me," he said in Kalol, Panchmahal. He was reacting to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks where he called PM "100 maathon wala raavan" or "Modiji is a raavan (demon) with 100 foreheads."

Gujarat Phase-1 Polling: BJP candidate from Navsari's Vansda Piyush Bhai Patel has alleged that he was attacked by unknown persons in Jhari village in the early morning hours today. He said 4-5 vehicles were also damaged in the incident.

Prafulbhai More whose wedding is scheduled today has rescheduled it for the evening to cast his vote in Tapi. More says, ""I urge everyone to vote, you shouldn't waste it. My wedding was scheduled for the morning but I rescheduled it for the evening, we've to go to Maharashtra for it."
"Whenever the Congress has used inappropriate words against PM Modi, then the people of Gujarat have given a reply through the ballot box. This time also the people of the state will give a reply," says Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Sanand.
