Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu’s father superstar Krishna passed away at the age of 80 today. Superstar Krishna, whose full name is Ghattamnaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, breathed his last at around 4 am after suffering from a cardiac arrest. The development was confirmed by film trade analyst Ramesh Bala.
Bala tweeted, “SuperStar Krishna Garu is no more.. He passed away early this morning in Hyderabad.. He was 79.. He suffered a cardiac arrest yesterday.. Condolences to SuperStar Mahesh Babu Garu and the rest of the family members. Om Shanthi!”
He was rushed to the Continental Hospital in Hyderabad at around 2 am in an unconscious state but was revived after 20 minutes. The actor’s condition was critical and he was being treated on a ventilator, news agency PTI reported. The actor, who has appeared in over 350 films, was facing age-related issues for a long time.

Superstar Krishna was also the father-in-law of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Jay Galla. The veteran actor had five children– Ramesh Babu, Mahesh Babu, Padmavathi, Manjula, and Priyadarshini. He joined the Congress and became an MP in the 1980s but quit politics after former PM Rajiv Gandhi’s death.
2022 has not been great for Mahesh Babu as he lost his mother Indira Devi in September. His brother Ramesh Babu also died in January this year.
He predominantly worked in Telugu films and his prominent films include Thene Manasulu, Pandanti Kapuram, Alluri Seetharama Raju, Simhasanam, Gudachari 116, James Bond 777, Mugguru Kodukulu, and Anna Thammudu.
