Sennheiser PX 685i: The running haloPrice: Rs 5,490Sennheiser is partnering with Adidas to bring a whole new range of fitness oriented headphones. We tested the OCX685i first and were really happy. The PX685i is meant for a similar audience, though more oriented towards people who run to keep in shape. The PX685i is has an anti-slip adjustable headband, that is much thinner than its predecessors from a decade back. The ear pieces are hard and need to be covered with a rubber sleeve and foam cover. We are not sure the foam cover is a great idea on a sweat and water resistant model, especially when you have silicone becoming such a popular replacement. But the design works and the headband will stay in place. The sound quality is really good and heavy on bass. The drivers work overtime as you enjoy songs by Thirty Seconds to Mars that try and build the best tempo for an early morning jog. Switch to vocalheavy number like David Guetta's She Wolf and Sia's voice still gets to you just the way she intended.Designed for use on the road by runners, the PX685i does not cut out all the noise. This could be why they decided not to use Silicone that would fit the ears too snuggly. So you can hear what is happening around you, like a car horn or someone alerting you about a hole in the sidewalk. This device has a remote to control the phone. It also lets you make and take calls, with great sound clarity. Our only issue with this headset is whether you need a headband design.Bag it or junk it: Not everyone might like the headbandSennheiser OCX685i: Music for the sporty typesPrice: Rs 5,490
Sennheiser OCX685i
If you are not keen on wearing a headband headphone while doing abdominal crunches in the gym, then the Sennheiser OCX 685i is the one for you. The wraparound-the ear hooks mean you will be using this more for workouts and early morning jogs. The differentiator in the design is the fact that these ear hooks are soft and not hard like other models using this design. The ear adaptors are also soft and keep out most types of noise, though not all. They are also sweat and water resistant. You wouldn't expect anything that is not up to the mark from Sennheiser. So the OCX 685i was also no disappointment. In fact, the bass reproduction was among the best we have encountered in a headphone this size. That could be attributed to the high output drivers, which Sennheiser seems to pack in all its products these days. The vocals are very natural too. Try Freddie Mercury followed by Stevie Wonder and Shreya Goshal and you will see the sound is true all across. And it is not all about music. The 'i' in 685i signifies that this is a headphone that will also let you make and answer calls using a phone. The call clarity is as good as with the music and the superior mic on the small remote in the rubber-finish cable ensure the other side also hears you loud and clear. In the box are multiple ear adapters and a small storage pouch. Buy this if you are the sporty type and want to listen to music your way in the gym.Bag it or junk it: Ideal for those who frequent the gym or work out
