The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has planned to bid 62 stations for redevelopment, one of them being New Delhi Railway Station. Participation is being sought from investors for the $680 million project.The authority would conduct virtual roadshows for investors from various countries between January 14 and January 19. The Station of the futureAfter the makeover, the station would have an airport-like feel. The project includes the station component, the new terminal building, along with amenities, railway offices, railway quarters, and ancillary railway works and station estate including retail spaces adjoining the station, commercial office space, hotels, and residential space.

Bidders for the projectThe station is going to be developed on a Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) model for a concession period of 60 years. The project will see participation from Adani, GMR, JKB Infra, Arabian Construction Company and Anchorage in its pre-bid meeting in September last year.

Design and CostThe project is expected to cost around USD 680 million. The revamped New Delhi station will have dome-shaped terminal buildings with two arrivals and two departures at the concourse level, two Multi-Modal Transport Hubs (MMTH) on each side of the station, 40-floor highrise twin towers (with hotel/offices and retail at the podium) and a pedestrian boulevard with high street shopping.
