Mumbai currently has one fifth of the country's cases with a total number of 48,549 cases. But the city resumed activities from today as per the SOPs of the Maharashtra government.
Shopping malls, religious places and restaurants were open for the public but witnessed low footfalls.
Delhi borders with UP and Haryana have opened much to the relief of residents. Last week only essential services were allowed to cross the borders.
Hotels and banquet halls in Delhi will remain shut as they might be needed for COVID-19 patients in the coming days
Private offices in Maharashtra can resume with only 10 per cent of the workforce in the office. While rest may continue to work from home. Intra-district bus services will be allowed while inter-district will not.
The centre has also permitted religious places to reopen from June 8. Places for worship, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, salons will also begin to open up but with certain guidelines.
However, even as people poured out of their homes, most were in masks. Restaurants and malls hardly saw any footfalls and there was a general sense of uncertainty in the atmosphere.
