India has secured the 139th spot out of 149 countries in the UN World Happiness Report 2021. India ranked 140th in 2019 and 144th in 2020. The focus of this year's World Happiness Report was two-fold, first to focus on the effects of COVID-19 on the structure and quality of people's lives, and second to describe and evaluate how governments all over the world have dealt with the pandemic. Here are the top 10 happiest countries in the world.
10. AustriaLast but not the least, Austria. Austria, which officially is the Republic of Austria, is composed of nine federated states, one of which is Vienna, Austria's capital and largest city and is ranked tenth in the World Happiness Report 2021.
9. New ZealandNew Zealand, an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, managed to grab ninth spot in the top ten list.
8. LuxembourgLuxembourg is a small country in Europe largely surrounded by Belgium, France and Germany. The place held eighth position in top 10 list of world's happiest countries.
7. SwedenThis Scandinavian nation with thousands of coastal islands and inland lakes managed to acquire seventh position on the list.
6. NorwayThis Scandinavian country ranked sixth in the World Happiness Report 2021.
5. The NetherlandsNetherlands, the place known for flat landscapes of canals, tulip fields, windmills and awesome cycling routes, saved the fifth spot among top 10 happiest countries.
4. IcelandThis Nordic island nation came fourth on the list.
3. SwitzerlandSwitzerland, home to a number of lakes, villages and high peaks of the Alps, grabbed the third spot on the rankings.
