Have you ever touched your mobile screen accidentally while watching a movie? Well yes, it happens quite a lot of times but worry no more as Netflix now has a perfect solution to your problem. Netflix has added a "screen lock" button for Android users to prevent accidental pauses.
The new screen lock feature by Netflix would allow users to lock the screen while watching a movie or a series on the app. Many times you accidentally touch the skip button or the pause button but now with Netflix's new feature this won't happen anymore. Netflix has already rolled out the screen lock feature and you should be able to see it when you use the app.
There is no dedicated button the screen lock feature on the settings menu but it will pop up when you start streaming a movie or a series. For instance, when you start to watch a movie or show, the on-screen controls will also show the screen lock button. When you tap on the lock button, Netflix will remove all the other controls including the pause button and the fast forward and reverse buttons. After locking the screen if you touch the screen while watching a movie, the only button that will pop up will be the unlock button, that would ask if you want to unlock your screen.
However, the feature comes with a caveat, when you lock your screen you would not be able to pause anything you are watching on the screen. You cannot even fast forward a song that you don't watch. For everything, you will have to first unlock the screen and then proceed further. So the next time you plan to lock your screen, do think this through.
A report published in 9to5Google states that the Netflix users on Android are not required to update their app to get the screen lock feature. Netflix is slowly rolling out the feature and it may take up a bit of time. So if you haven't got the feature, waiting is the best thing that you can do.
Apart from this, Netflix had recently rolled out a new set of parental controls for parents. Using the new feature, parents can keep track of their kids' activities on Netflix.They can link their accounts with their kids' accounts and restrict them from viewing inappropriate content.
With Netflix releasing so many useful features, we hope the other streaming apps like Amazon Prime, Hotstar will follow suit too.
