Mahindra Group chairman and Padma awardee Anand Mahindra congratulated the world’s richest man Elon Musk upon successfully completing his Twitter acquisition.
Retweeting Musk’s tweet that said ‘Bird is freed’, Anand Mahindra shared a poem by Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib. He tweeted, “Udne de in Parindon ko Azad fiza mein Ghalib..Jo tere Apne honge wo laut aayenge kisi roz. #TwitterTakeover.”
He also reposted Musk’s tweet from Thursday that was addressed to Twitter advertisers. Mahindra tweeted, “The Bird has indeed been set free @elonmusk and we certainly want it to soar ever higher…but we’re hoping it will be a guided flight to a new orbit…not one that hurtles out of control. Wishing you well.
Musk has reportedly sacked Twitter's top executives including Indian-origin CEO Parag Agrawal and legal head Vijaya Gadde. Bloomberg News on Friday reported that Musk may takeover as Twitter's new CEO in the interim. He was also seen hanging out with other employees of the company at a bar in Twitter's headquarters.
Musk on Thursday tweeted a video of him entering the Twitter headquarters with a sink in his. He captioned the tweet, "Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in!"
The deadline to close the deal was set by a Delaware court as October 28. The deadline was set so Musk could line up the financers for the deal.
One of the investors in the deal is Binance, world's largest cryptocurrency exchange. The company in a statement said that it aims to play a role in bringing social media and Web3 together in order to broaden the use and adoption of crypto.
"I feel much more secure about my Twitter account now that Elon has sink'ed in there," Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao tweeted.
Apart from Binance, a clutch of investors have chipped in for Musk to get through this deal, including Sequoia Capital, Qatar Investment Authority that controls Qatar's sovereign wealth fund, Qatar Holdings. Tesla chief also turned to big banks for a loan, banks. Major banks like Bank of America, Barclays, BNP Paribas, Mizuho, Morgan Stanley, MUFG, and Societe Generale have committed to giving Musk $13 billion for the acquisition.
