'Working on the story': SS Rajamouli confirms RRR2

SS Rajamouli, the director of Telugu blockbuster RRR, has confirmed that the work is on for the sequel of the epic action film. His father and screenwriter V Vijayendra Prasadteam is currently working on a story for the sequel which is in a very early stage, Rajamouli told Variety - an American magazine.

Discussing the sequel at a screening in Chicago over the weekend, the 'Baahubali' filmmaker said that his father is the story writer for all his films. "We discussed a bit about (‘RRR 2’) and he is working on the story,” Rajamouli said.

NTR Jr had in April this year raised the possibility of a sequel of RRR. He had said that he was hoping that there would be another world of 'RRR' again.

"Sometimes you just hope and you say a few words hoping it would happen, it will happen. It’s just a way of positive thinking, wanting for more," he stated.

RRR, which was released in Japan on October 21, surpassed Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots to become the third highest-grossing Indian film in Japan.

The film grossed Japanese yen (JPY) 180 million in 17 days after being released on 209 screens and 31 Imax screens across 44 cities and prefectures in Japan.

The film is set in the 1920s and features Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Edward Sonnenblick, Ray Stevenson, Olivia Morris, Alison Doody and Samuthirakani in supporting roles.

Produced on a budget of Rs 450 crore, RRR made over Rs 1000 crore in worldwide box office revenue during its theatrical run.
