EXCLUSIVE: FM Nirmala Sitharaman Says GST Rationalisation Almost Complete

In an exclusive session at the India Today-Business Today Budget Round Table 2025, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has indicated at big changes in the Goods & Services Tax (GST) regime in the coming days. In her discussion, the Finance Minister, fresh from a ‘game-changing’ Budget 2025 speech, said the rationalisation exercise which began 3 years ago is nearly complete and the changes will make the GST process simpler. Taking on her critics, Sitharaman added that the GST regime has made products and services cheaper, not costlier for consumers.
