Hero has launched its new sub-200cc roadster segment bike, the Xtreme 160R 4V. The new bike gets some significant upgrades
The biggest and most important upgrade in the 2023 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V is that it gets a better engine than its predecessor. The new Xtreme is powered by the latest 163cc engine with 4-valves instead of the previous two. Also, the new engine comes with an oil-cooler along with the air-cooled system.
Hero has claimed the new Xtreme 160R 4V to be the lightest oil-cooled 160cc bike and also the fastest in the segment as it can sprint 0-60kmph in just 4.41 seconds. The new engine produces a peak power of 16.6 bhp at 8,500 rpm along with the peak torque of 14.6 Nm. The new engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
Hero has also upped their looks game as the new bike is fitted with a re-designed all-LED headlamp and an updated switchgear. It also has extended tank shrouds, single/split seat setup and a new paint scheme. The motorcycle also boasts new upside-down (USD) front forks from KYB only available in the top-spec Pro variant. The bike gets an updated instrument cluster with Hero Connect 2.0.
The 2023 Xtreme 160R runs on 17-inch alloy wheels, which have the meaty 100/80 tubeless tyres in the front, while the rear has 130/70 tubeless tyres. For the braking, Hero fitted a 276mm petal disc brake in the front while giving two options for the rear – 220mm petal disc or 130mm drum brake.
The 2023 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V of the 160cc bike comes in three colours options – Blazing Sports Red, Matte Slate Black and Neon Night Star.
The new Xtreme 160R 4V is available in three variants – Standard, Connected Pro. The ex-showroom prices for Delhi are: Standard – Rs 1,27,300 Connected – Rs 1,32,800 Pro – Rs 1,36,500
The new bike from Hero will give competition to the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar N160 and Bajaj Pulsar NS160. The new Hero bike is the most expensive in the segment as the prices of its rivals are: Bajaj Pulsar N160 – Rs 1.23 lakh – Rs 1.30 lakh TVS Apache RTR 160 4V – Rs 1.24 lakh – Rs 1.32 lakh Bajaj Pulsar NS160 – Rs 1.24 lakhs to Rs 1.37 lakhs
While Hero has introduced a new 163cc 4-valve oil-cooled engine, TVS powers its RTR 160 4V with a 159.3cc oil-cooled engine which churns out 17.31 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 14.73 Nm torque at 7.500 rpm. Both the bikes come with a 5-speed gearbox. Design-wise, Hero Xtreme looks younger and more sophisticated than the Apache RTR 160 4V.
