Japanese carmaker Honda unveiled its new SUV Elevate for the Indian market on Tuesday. It is the first global product which Honda expects to export from India.
The Elevate SUV is a global Honda product, but it will first hit the Indian roads then the other markets. The new SUV comes with the latest technology in the market including the Honda Sense.
The Honda Elevate SUV comes with a chunky flat face equipped with LED headlamps, LED daytime running headlights and black fog lamps. The front look is complemented with a shining black radiator grill. The car has a ground clearance of 220mm.
The new SUV’s interior is said to be very spacious giving ample legroom for the rear passengers. It also comes with an advanced 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Honda has powered the Elevate SUV with the 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine churning out 121 PS power and 145.1 Nm torque. It comes with two transmission options: a six-speed manual and an advanced automatic CVT setup. The hybrid variant of Honda City engine might also get placed in the Elevate SUV in future.
The Japanese automaker has taken a safety first approach as Honda Elevate is equipped with various safety features including Lane Watch, Lane Keeping Assist, Rear Parking Sensor, emergency stop signal, Hill Start Assist and Honda Sense ADAS. The body of the vehicle is made of high tensile steel to minimise damage during mishaps.
Honda Elevate will have to compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and MG Hector.
Bookings for the new Elevate SUV will begin in July with the company aiming for a launch before the festive season. Honda is expected to price the Honda Elevate from Rs 10.5 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).
Honda announced their plan to launch five SUVs in India by 2030 including the new Elevate. Honda also announced that the company is aiming to launch its first electric vehicle in India by 2026.
