The India models of the Grand i10 Nios hatchback and Aura sedan could reportedly be the basis for the Hyundai Exter as well. The Exter is expected to run on the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine that both the Grand i10 Nios and the Aura currently employ. Producing 83PS of maximum power and 113.8Nm of peak torque, the engine can be paired either with a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT

Hyundai's upcoming Exter SUV will incorporate certain design elements from the Venue SUV. Among these will be the Hyundai parametric front grille, split headlamps, and LED daytime running lights (DRLs), which will feature an 'H' pattern also found on the soon-to-be-released Hyundai Santa Fe2. The overall design of the Exter will follow Hyundai's current Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy

Hyundai Exter's higher trims are expected to offer a plethora of features. These could include an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry and start, a rear-view camera, wireless charging, a cooled glovebox, power-folding mirrors, and many other amenities
Hyundai Exter is reportedly Hyundai’s attempt to rebrand the Hyundai Casper, which is also a compact SUV, for the Indian market. However, the Exter is likely to be bigger than Hyundai Casper

The expected price for Hyundai Exter micro SUV could range between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9 lakh as the South Korean carmaker will be placing it below the Hyundai Venue line
The immediate rival for Hyundai Exter is likely to be the Tata Punch, which is also a micro SUV whose starting price is around Rs 6 lakh and goes up to around Rs 9.5 lakh
The Hyundia Exter is also likely to compete with other compact SUVs, priced at Rs 10 lakh and below. These include:
