The length of Mahindra Thar 5-door SUV is going to be the biggest difference in comparison with the current 3-door version. Also, Mahindra might offer the third row seating along with the standard five people seating.
The Indian automaker is expected to power the newer version of its Thar with the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol 2.2-litre diesel engines as its smaller version. But, they might tweak the output a bit just like it did for the Scorpio recently. Also, Mahindra might not offer the 1.5-litre engine in its 5-door variant.
One of the testing vehicles also revealed that Mahindra is going to equip their new SUV with a single electric sunroof.
Along with the 4x4 version, Mahindra has also been testing a 4x2 version of the new 5-door SUV as they seek to compete with their new rival Maruti Suzuki Jimny.

Maruti has powered their 5-door Thar with a 1.5-litre petrol engine compared to the Thar’s 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
The new 5-door version of Mahindra Thar is expected to go on sale early 2024. The new SUV is expected to start at a price of over Rs 15 lakh for its base model.
