Auto companies posted strong sale numbers for May. From Maruti Jimny to Honda Elevate, check out upcoming car launches from major automakers in June 2023.
Maruti has brought back their 5-door SUV Jimny in a new modern avatar as the company unveiled their latest entry in the SUV segment during the Auto Expo 2023. Now, the company is reportedly set to launch their latest offering on June 7.
Maruti Suzuki’s new SUV will be powered by 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine, which gives 103bhp along with 134.2Nm torque. The engine will come with both transmission options – manual or automatic. Talking about off-roading, Maruti Suzuki Jimny comes with an approach angle of 36 degrees, departure angle of 47 degrees and a ramp over angle of 24 degrees. The SUV also comes with AllGrip Pro 4x4 drivetrain.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, six airbags, ABS, EBD along with Hill Assist and Hill descent control. The new SUV also has LED projector headlamps. Maruti is expected to price the SUV at Rs 10 to Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
Honda is making its entry in the compact SUV segment with the new Honda Elevate. The Japanese automaker is set to reveal their new SUV on June 6. This new entry will face competition from Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Honda might give its customer two engine options for Elevate- a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a strong hybrid unit of 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle coupled with two electric motors. The SUV is also expected to have Level-2 ADAS with price between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18 lakh. (Representative Image)
The German automaker is bringing back the AMG SL55 to India after a gap of 12 years. The SL will be powered by Mercedes-Benz AMG’s M176 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine capable of producing 471 bhp power output and 700 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and offers Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel drive system. Mercedes-Benz will launch the car on June 22.
The next entry is from another German automaker, BMW with their new BMW M2. The second-generation model will be launched in India in the coming weeks. The new M2 will be powered by a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo, inline-six engine churning out 460 bhp and 550 Nm torque. It comes with two transmission options: 6-speed manual gearbox and an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The only EV on the list comes from Swedish carmaker Volvo, who is planning to unveil their new C40 Recharge on June 14. The company is expected to launch the vehicle later this year. The new SUV is powered by a 78kWh battery which has a usable capacity of 75kWh. The SUV can go up to 371 kilometres in a single charge. Globally it comes with two drivetrain options: a rear-wheel drive and a four-wheel drive drivetrain. It is unclear which drivetrain will be offered in India. (Representative mage)
