The water wading capacity of a car is a measurement of depth, i.e, till what depth of water will the car function properly.
The new 4x4 off-roading vehicle by Maruti comes with a relatively lower water wading depth of 300mm. The latest SUV of the Japanese automaker comes with a 1462cc petrol engine and 210mm ground clearance. The ex-showroom price of Jimny starts at Rs 12.74 lakh.
The direct rival of Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the 4x4 version of Thar comes with a great water wading depth of 650mm. Thar 4x4 comes with either a 2.0-litre petrol engine or a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The price of 4x4 versions of Thar starts at Rs 13.87 lakh.
Next one on the list is again a Mahindra SUV, Scorpio-N with an impressive water wading depth of 500mm. Just like Thar, it also gets the option of 2.0-litre petrol engine or the 2.2-litre diesel engine. The Scorpio-N’s ex-showroom price begins at Rs 13.05 lakh.
Another Mahindra SUV on the list is the Bolero Neo version with a slightly lower water wading depth of 370mm. Bolero Neo is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine and gets a ground clearance of 180mm. The ex-showroom price of Bolero Neo starts at just Rs 9.63 lakh.
Competitor of Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the 4x4 version of Force Gurkha comes on the list with a water wading capacity of 700mm, making it the best of the three. Force Gurkha 4x4 is equipped with a 2.6-litre diesel engine and comes with a ground clearance of 205mm. Force has priced their off-roading vehicle at Rs 15.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
Toyota’s best-selling MPV, the Innova Crysta has an impressive water wading depth of 500mm. The latest version of Innova Crysta is powered by a 2.4-litre diesel engine and has a ground clearance of 178mm. The ex-showroom price of Innova Crysta starts at Rs 19.99 lakh.
Toyota’s other car on the list is their premium SUV, Fortuner with a brilliant water wading depth of 700mm. Fortuner runs on either a 2.7-litre diesel engine or a bigger 2.8-litre diesel engine. The ex-showroom price of Toyota Fortuner starts at Rs 32.59 lakh.
Manoj Joshi, who is famous for his role as Kachara SToyota’s pickup truck, Hilux 4x4 shares the same water wading depth of 700mm with Fortuner. The Japanese 4x4 pickup is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine and has a 216mm ground clearance. The 4x4 variant of Toyota Hilux is priced at Rs 37.15 lakh (ex-showroom).eth, was reimagined as an astronaut in an orange bodysuit.
In the high-end SUV segment, Wrangler is the first one to come to mind and it’s also the first one on this list with a water wading depth of 760mm. The American SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine and has a ground clearance of 217mm. Ex-showroom price of Jeep Wrangler starts at Rs 59.05 lakh.
The most expensive SUV on the list is none other than Land Rover Defender. This Tata-owned international SUV has the best water wading depth of 900mm with a variable ground clearance: 218 to 228mm. Land Rover provides various engine options for Defender starting from 2.0-litre petrol to 3.0-litre diesel and even a 5.0-litre petrol option. The ex-showroom price of Land Rover Defender starts at Rs 93.55 lakh.
