Swedish carmaker Volvo unveiled its new all-electric SUV in the Indian market today (June 14). Volvo C40 Recharge is placed above the existing e-SUV of the company, XC40 Recharge.
Volvo C40 Recharge looks very similar to the XC40 Recharge. With the same front looks, closed upper grille along with the Thor’s hammer pattern LED daytime running lights and LED headlamps. The vehicle comes with a sloping roofline giving it a coupe body style. The electric SUV runs on 19-inch alloy wheels.
Volvo C40 Recharge boasts of multiple safety features including airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera and ADAS features including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring system plus parking assistant. It also comes with a 9-inch infotainment system paired with a 13-speaker Harman Kardon music system and panoramic sunroof.
Volvo C40 Recharge offers both single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD motions. The electric SUV can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.7 seconds.
The global model of C40 Recharge runs on a 78kWh battery pack, which has a claimed driving range of 420 km in a single charge. For the Indian model, Volvo has inserted an E80 battery pack capable of giving 530km driving range.
Volvo C40 Recharge will be available in six colours – Crystal White Pearl, Fusion Red, Onyx Black, Cloud Blue, Sage Green and Fjord Blue.
There are only two main differences – C40 Recharge has better headroom for the front seats. The Volvo C40 Recharge also comes with a better range of 530 km compared to the 418 km range of XC40 Recharge.
As, XC40 is priced at Rs 57 lakh (ex-showroom), Volvo is expected to keep the price of its new C40 Recharge at least Rs 60 lakh.
Volvo’s new all-electric C40 Recharge will face fierce competition from Mercedes-Benz EQB, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Mini Cooper SE and BMW i4.
