JOBS RECOVERY

Employment in agriculture declined to 15.4 crore in the quarter ended December 2020 from the 15.8 crore  employed during the previous quarter
Employment in agriculture peaked during July and August 2020 when it crossed 16 crore
Real estate and construction industry has seen a near-complete recovery in terms of employment
The industry employed an estimated 6.1 crore in 2019-20. This fell to 2.8 crore in June quarter, but recovered almost all 3.3 crore job losses by December quarter
Mining employment changed little in December quarter, but employment in oil and gas extraction increased
Mining employment has levelled off over the past 4 months, yet the industry has lost 3 lakh jobs since April 2020
Services sector saw a loss of 2.5 crore jobs in June quarter
The jobs in services sector were down to 83 lakh in September quarter and 55 lakh in December quarter
Manufacturing accounted for 4 crore jobs in 2019-20. In the first quarter this dropped to 2.46 crore, implying a loss of over 1.5 crore jobs
The loss recovered to 2.71 cr in second quarter and then to 2.8 cr in December quarter. The shortfall is still quite high at 1.14 cr
