Amazon has launched Amazon Air in India in a bid to enhance the transportation network and facilitate faster deliveries
Amazon India has partnered with the Bengaluru-based cargo airline Quikjet to launch its maiden air freight service in the country.
This makes Amazon the first e-commerce company in India to partner with a third-party carrier to provide a dedicated air network for deliveries
Amazon’s partnership with QuikJet will be utilising the Boeing 737-800. For starters, the company has two such aircraft and will add to the fleet in the coming months
Amazon says that it will initially use Amazon Air to deliver goods in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, & Bengaluru
Tech Today was present at the launch event in Hyderabad. The media was addressed by Amazon representatives in the presence of KT Rama Rao, Industry & Commerce Minister for Telangana
Amazon launched Air in the US in 2016 with over three dozen Boeing freighter aircraft. It also briefly tested the program in the UK. India is the third market where Amazon has launched its freight service
However, Amazon’s air cargo planes in India have been labelled as Prime Air, which is a separate service by the e-commerce giant that provides deliveries using drones
