The world has 2,640 billionaires with a total net worth of $12.2 trillion, as per the latest Forbes annual list. The net worth mentioned is as per stock prices and exchange rates calculated by Forbes as on March 10, 2023
With a net worth of $83.4 billion, Mukesh Ambani ranked 9th on the list. He regained his spot as Asia’s richest person after Gautam Adani lost billions over the Hindenburg Research report fiasco. The Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate Reliance Industries Limited became the first Indian company to surpass $100 billion in revenue in 2022. RIL’s telecom arm Jio Infocomm is led by Akash Ambani while Isha Ambani heads Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd and Anant Ambani leads Reliance’s new energy ventures
Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani was the world’s third-richest person on January 24, when his net worth was nearly $126 billion. However, Hindenburg Research’s report alleging the Adani Group of ‘stock manipulation and accounting fraud scheme over the course of decades’ led to the conglomerate’s shares crashing even though the Adani Group denied all the allegations. With a net worth of $47.2 billion, Adani has now slipped to the 24th spot on the Forbes Billionaires 2023 list
