Netflix has announced several job openings for AI. One of the roles they are hiring for is an AI manager position for which they offer an annual salary of up to $900,000 or Rs 7.4 crore

The streaming platform is planning to leverage AI technology for content acquisition, delivering personalised user recommendations and much more. It stated on its website “The overall market range for roles in this (AI) area of Netflix is typically $300,000–$900,000."

The streaming giant is also hiring a Technical Director for its Game studio, which requires skills related to Artificial Intelligence. This Netflix job comes with an annual salary of $650,000 (approximately Rs 5 crore)

AI vs Hollywood

Hollywood unions including the Writers Guild of America, the Screen Actors Guild, and the American Federation of Radio and Television Artists (SAG-AFTRA) are currently on strike due to concerns about pay and the negative impact of AI technology on their jobs. As per some reports, multiple production houses are planning to implement AI technology that might replace human-led jobs

Actor Brian Cox told BBC that producers are making a lot of money with streaming deals but are refusing to share it with the actors and writers. The members have demanded an 11% increase in pay due to inflation 

Hollywood strike

Priyanka Chopra, who is also a SAG member, along with George Clooney, Matt Damon, Susan Sarandon, Emily Blunt and other Hollywood stars have come out in support of the strike

Netflix faced backlash for promoting AI-oriented jobs amid the ongoing strike. As per reports, it updated its job posting to read, "Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence is powering innovation, from personalization for members, to optimizing our payment processing and other revenue-focused initiatives. The job is based out of Netflix's Los Gatos, California, office."
