Two popular actresses Rashmika Mandanna and Katrina Kaif became victims of deepfake technology recently as their deepfake video and deepfake image went viral on social media. When asked about the misuse of emerging technologies and if guardrails are needed, Snap Inc CEO Evan Spiegel said, “With the explosion in content creation that’s being powered by AI, I think it is becoming more and more important to authenticate real news.”

‘Important to  authenticate real news’

Snap Inc CEO Evan Spiegel explained how Snapchat being a closed content platform helps ensure that the content adheres to their content guidelines as only approved publishers are allowed to post content. He added, “We should assume that more and more of the content that we see has been created by Artificial Intelligence or may not be accurate.
