Emphasising on the need for gender inclusion in the workplace especially when it came to the scarcity of women leaders in listed Indian companies, Nandini Piramal said, “Everyone deserves a seat at the table and they shouldn’t be excluded because of their gender, their caste, their class.”

Nandini Piramal on Indian pharma sector
The Piramal Pharma Chairperson remained bullish on the growth of the Indian pharma sector, emphasised on how the focus has to be quality while also addressing some of the challenges. She highlighted that even though there are substantial business opportunities, not all Indian companies maintained the same quality standards as their global counterparts and this was a challenge for the Indian pharma sector

Nandini Piramal’s role models
At BT MPW in Business event, Nandini Piramal opened up about who she considers her role models. She said, "The Infosys founders are role models in the way they retired and contributed back to the country, significantly transforming it for the better. I aspire to follow in their footsteps, perpetuating positive change within the nation. Initiatives like Aadhaar and the payment system owe their existence to visionaries like Nandan Nilekani."

BT MPW 2023: Falguni Nayar on inclusivity, pay parity at Nykaa
Nykaa CEO Falguni Nayar highlighted how the company has 47% women employees and 40% of its board directors are also women. She said, “For women, it is important to be recognised by their work rather than some gender specific quota.” When asked about the issue of pay parity, she said, “We definitely want to be an equal opportunity employer… ‘Best person for the job’ is the policy we follow.”

Kalpana Morparia at BT MPW 2023
BTTV Managing Editor Siddharth Zarabi asked the panel about whether a 70-hour work week, propagated by industry stalwarts like Infosys Co-founder Narayana Murthy, is practical especially for women. To this, Kalpana Morparia, said, “If life is work, there is no question of counting hours.” She also mentioned how despite retiring two years ago, she recently had a 22-hour work day as she is on the boards of several companies
