Following his retirement from the FMCG company, Sanjiv Mehta stepped down as the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) with effect from close of business hours on June 26, 2023
Rohit Jawa took over as the new Managing Director & CEO of HUL on June 27, 2023. He is also the President, Unilever, South Asia, and a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE)
Rohit Jawa is likely to get an annual remuneration of Rs 21.43 crore, according to the company's annual report. He will also receive a sum of Rs 4.83 crore as mobility-linked allowances in FY24. Outgoing CEO Sanjiv Mehta’s salary was 164 times higher than that of an average HUL employee. He took home Rs 22.36 crore in annual remuneration in FY23. Now, Jawa’s pay package will exceed what Mehta had received.
Rohit Jawa started his career with HUL as a management trainee in 1988. His first overseas opportunity came in 2004, when Jawa was elevated as the Vice President of Unilever Vietnam. Since then, he has served across geographies like Bangkok, Singapore, Philippines and China, before he took charge of his current role in Unilever headquarters in London last year
Rohit Jawa has a bachelor’s degree from St Stephen’s College and an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, both at the University of Delhi, India. He is an alumnus of IMD Business School, Lausanne, Switzerland. He also completed the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School in 2022
