American conglomerate Honeywell has elevated Indian-origin executive Vimal Kapur to the post of CEO. Currently, he is the president and COO of the overall company.
Vimal Kapur is an Indian-origin business executive, who has held several key leadership positions during his over 30-year stint at Honeywell. In May 2018, he was appointed as president and CEO of Honeywell Building Technologies.
Vimal Kapur graduated from Thapar Institute of Engineering in Punjab's Patiala, as electronics engineer with a specialisation in instrumentation.
As the chief executive officer, Kapur will get a base salary of $1.5 million, Honeywell said. He will take over the top role on June 1.
Vimal Kapur, 57, will replace Darius Adamczyk as CEO. Adamczyk has been steering the North Carolina-based group since 2017. He too was COO before becoming CEO.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Kapur also worked at Honeywell as a general manager in Pune, from September 2007 to December 2009, before moving to the UK and then the US.
Adamczyk said Honeywell's next operational evolution, under Vimal's leadership, will be the incorporation of accelerator and standardisation of global business models to enable maximal performance in each segment.
Kapur is currently heading Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies, which develops process technologies, automation solutions, advanced materials, and industrial software.
Honeywell’s products and services are vast, ranging from working with the aerospace industry to buildings, manufacturing plants, supply chains, and other sectors. Honeywell claims its heating products are in 25% of global buildings.
