Speaking on the Adani issue, FM Nirmala Sitharaman said regulators were doing their job and they should be on their toes to do that job. "Any disputes on that? Regulators will have to do their job."
Sitharaman said both LIC and SBI have given their statements on investment and loan respectively. "There's nothing I can materially add to that. We are allowing them to run professionally."
Asked about the GDP number she would like to see, Sitharaman said there were huge uncertainties in the world because of Covid and Ukraine war. "It is very difficult for me to project any number."
Sitharaman said everybody loved 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun' as it spread happiness and togetherness. She said the opposition should also work with govt and not spread 'toxicity' all the time.
Responding to Rahul Gandhi's charge that her budget was for 'Mitr Kaal', Sitharaman said people who speak the foul language also talk about 'Pyaar ki dukaan'. "Such is their hypocrisy."
Sitharaman said the jobs are there but appropriate skill sets are not available. The Centre is 'rushing through to certify institutions that can train people to meet requirements of the industry'.
FM Sitharaman said the national debt was a concern, and the government would bring it down. She said the country reached this level (of high debt) because of 2020 (Covid).
