PM Narendra Modi has guaranteed that India would be among the top 3 economies in the next five years. "When we came to power in 2014, we were at the 10th position in the global economic system. Today, with the efforts of 140 Crore Indians, we have reached the fifth position. This did not happen just like that. The demon of corruption that had the country in its clutches - we stopped leakages and created a strong economy," said PM Modi

PM Modi's Independence Day speech focused on building a foundation for "Viksit Bharat" and the country's advancement during the "Amrit Kaal” towards building a developed nation by 2047. He said, “"It should be our resolve that when the tricolour is hoisted in 2047, it is of developed India.”

During his Independence Day speech, PM Modi talked about COVID and the Russia-Ukraine war leading to the world facing the crisis of inflation but asserted that the government has controlled inflation. He added, “Inflation has the entire global economy in its clutches...It is unfortunate that when we import goods of our necessity, we also import inflation. But, India made all efforts to control inflation...We can't be content just because our situation is better than the rest of the world. I have to take more steps to see that the burden of inflation goes further down on the citizens of my country."

PM Modi said, “The one thing that will take the country forward is women-led development. Today, we can proudly say that India has the maximum number of pilots in civil aviation. Women scientists are leading the Chandrayaan mission.” He highlighted how G20 countries were also recognising the importance of women-led development while adding, “I want to tell the mothers, sisters and daughters that today the country has progressed due to the power of you all.”

PM Narendra Modi addressed the violence in Manipur during his Independence Day speech. “In the last few days, there are reports of peace. The nation is with Manipur,” said PM Modi. He added, "The people of Manipur should build on the peace that has been restored over the past few days. The path to a solution will be found through peace in Manipur."
