Global Firepower recently released its annual Military Strength Ranking list. The defence-related data tracking website assessed a total of 145 countries for this year’s list.
The website analyses over 60 individual factors to determine the PowerIndex score, which include categories like quality of military units, financial standing, geography and logistical capabilities.
Global Firepower ranked the military of the United States as the strongest in the world with a PowerIndex rating of 0.0712.
Russia was ranked as second most powerful military in the world ahead of China who came in third. Russia earned a PowerIndex rating of 0.0714 while China got the rating of 0.0722.
India was ranked as the fourth strongest military in the world ahead of the neighboring Pakistan which came at seventh. India got a PowerIndex rating of 0.1025 while Pakistan got 0.1694 rating.
Though the top four retained their spot, United Kingdom jumped from eighth to fifth this year. South Korea retained its place at sixth. Japan and France dropped their rankings this year to eighth and ninth, respectively, from fifth and seventh last year.
Meanwhile, Ukraine who has been fighting Russia since the February 2022 earned the rank of 15 in the list. Ukraine got a PowerIndex rating of 0.2516.
Global Firepower ranked Bhutan as the weakest army in the world with a PowerIndex rating of 6.2017.
