The trouble for Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan keeps mounting. SRK and Deepika Padukone’s song Besharam Rang is in the middle of another controversy
This time, the Child Welfare Commission (CWC) in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich has sought removal of certain clips from the song
The CWC said in its letter that the song and clippings may have an “adverse impact on the psyche of adolescents.” This comes after the govt. authorities provided smartphones and laptops to both school and college students
It said that the minors can’t be stopped from watching these obscene scenes, hence it has urged the Uttar Pradesh DGP to get clips of the song removed from social media
CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi said, “CBFC is always committed to finding the right balance between creative expression and sensibility of the audience and believes that we can always find a solution through meaningful dialogue between all stakeholders.”
Earlier, the 'Besharam Rang' song had led to calls for ‘Boycott Pathaan’ online as netizens slammed the actress for wearing a saffron colour outfit
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra had said that 'Besharam Rang' song “has been shot with a dirty mindset”, and that the costumes in the song “at first glance are objectionable”
Released on December 5, 'Besharam Rang' song from Siddharth Anand’s upcoming film Pathaan showcases the lead pair Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone grooving in Spain. Deepika’s saffron-coloured monokini had caused an uproar as people questioned the choice of colour
Besharam Rang Controversy
Activists of an outfit on Dec 14 staged a protest against the upcoming Bollywood film ‘Pathaan’ and its song ‘Besharam Rang’ and burnt effigies of SRK and Deepika Padukone. They demanded a ban on the film while questioning the use of green colour as well
A Twitter user wrote, “The way the Creator made fun of the saffron colour in the film Pathaan, I strongly condemn and oppose the act if it is a well-thought-out conspiracy. I boycott this film!”
One of the users drew parallels between Bollywood and South Indian films and said, “The difference between a South Indian film which pays tribute to our Bharatiya culture & traditions & a Bollywoodiya dirt which latches on to obscenity for gaining some success.”
Pathaan is set to release on January 25. Pathaan’s official teaser was launched on Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday on November 2 revealing SRK’s Pathaan look as well
Pathaan’s trailer will be released on January 10. Pathaan will also feature Salman Khan in a cameo role and star John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana. Pathaan is an action-thriller movie about an undercover cop
