The ticket booking and payment services of Indian Railways have been halted on the official website of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) – www.irctc.co.in owing to server issues
The technical team of Centre for Railway Information Systems and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (CRIS) is trying to resolve the issue with the IRCTC website
IRCTC said in a release, “Due to technical reasons, the ticketing service is not available on the IRCTC site and App. The technical team of CRIS is resolving the issue. Alternatively, tickets can be booked through other B2C players like Amazon, Makemytrip etc.”
Here are some alternate options via B2C websites, to book train tickets while the IRCTC website is down
Amazon.in is an IRCTC-authorised partner to help book the train tickets. Visit Amazon Pay Travel, enter the locations for departure and destination, departure date, select if you want AC trains only and hit Find Trains. Amazon also provides a list of top routes, top trains and top destinations which often come along with some special offers. Amazon claims to charge no extra cancellation fee and additional offers to Amazon Prime members. You can also pre-book your meals on trains via IRCTC Meals on Wheels service
MakeMyTrip or MMT is another authorised partner of IRCTC. One can visit the official web link - makemytrip.com/railways. You can create two kinds of accounts – Personal and MyBiz accounts. Enter the departure and destination points. Select the travel date and train class type. Check for MMT offers on the website to avail discounts on train tickets, if applicable. MMT offers you live train tracking via PNR, regular reminders about train status update and more
Yatra.com is an online travel website allowing you to plan your entire trip from travel bookings, hotel bookings, and cab bookings to booking tickets to local sightseeing spots. While the IRCTC website is down, you can visit www.yatra.com and go to its IRCTC Train Ticket Booking page. You can also avail Yatra’s special discount offers on train tickets
Visit GoIbibo’s Book Train Tickets | Indian Railways Enquiry & Reservation page on wwwgoibibo.com. You can book Tatkal tickets, create IRCTC ID and reserve train seats, check PNR status and Live train status
Visit RedBus’ RedRail Train Ticket Booking page. Red Bus offers multiple discount options on train tickets. It also assures instant refunds on cancelled bookings via UPI payment option
Digital payments app Paytm also offers the option to book train tickets. Go to the Paytm app and search train bookings or click on tickets.paytm.com/trains. Select the Book Ticket option. Enter the departure and arrival points. Select the departure date and start searching for a suitable train. Payment can be done directly via Paytm wallet or UPI. Paytm also offers special discounts on train tickets
Some other B2C online travel and tourism companies which can be used to book train tickets include Moovit, Trainline, Ixigo, RailYatri and EasyMyTrip
