Telangana got a new iconic landmark on June 21 when KT Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister inaugurated the Karimnagar cable bridge. Built on the Manair river, it is the biggest cable bridge in South India
The Karimnagar cable bridge was constructed across the Manair River at the cost of Rs 224 crore, adding a stunning attraction to the picturesque surroundings of the Lower Manair Dam in the town. Rama Rao, popularly known by his initials KTR. shared photos of the bridge in stunning landscapes and during different times of the day

“Karimnagar infrastructure is shaping up nicely guided by Minister @GangulaBRS Garu. Will be inaugurating the 500 mt long cable bridge tomorrow on the Manair river abutting Karimnagar City. Cable Bridge and the upcoming Manair River Front are going to add new glory to the beautiful landscape,” KTR had tweeted on Tuesday ahead of the inauguration
KTR also shared photos of the stunning cable-stayed bridge all lit up at night. The bridge opening started with fireworks, a laser show, and cultural programs. Professional singers were also invited. A large number of people, especially women, were mobilised on hired vehicles from across Karimnagar district for the event
Even before the inauguration, Karimnagar Cable Bridge has reportedly become a shooting spot with a number of youngsters eager to take photographs and video shoots on it. According to reports, a film production unit has chosen the cable bridge for its shooting. A song and a few scenes of a comedy-oriented movie were recorded on the bridge
Karimnagar Bridge is a state-of-the-art, high-strength cable-stayed bridge over the Maneru River below the Lower Maner Dam. This cable bridge, built by the Telangana government as part of Karimnagar urban development, won the award at the national level in the Outstanding Concrete Structure-2021
Karimnagar bridge is constructed with a length of 500 metres to solve traffic problems. After crossing the Maneru river from Karimnagar Kaman through the housing board, it will be linked to the Warangal highway from Sadashivapalli under Manakondur constituency, according to the Telangana government website
The Karimnagar cable bridge will also reduce the distance to Warangal by seven kilometres. Built with foreign technology to attract tourists, this cable bridge has 220-metre-high pylons on both sides and connects the pylons with 136 segments without any hindrance to boat travel in the Maneru River, as per the government website
Earlier in April, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had announced that India’s first cable-stayed Anji Khad Bridge in J&K is now ready for use while posting a timelapse footage of the making of the bridge. “In 11 months, India's first cable-stayed rail bridge is ready. All 96 cables are set! #AnjiKhadBridge PS: Total length of cable strands 653 km,” Vaishnaw tweeted along with the video

Anji Khad bridge, the cable-stayed rail bridge has 96 cables and the cable strands' total length is 653 km. The bridge is at a distance of 80 kilometres by road from Jammu, and it will connect Katra and Reasi in the state of Jammu and Kashmir through Indian Railways. The bridge was built as part of the national project ‘Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project’
