Dubai's Al Nahyan royal family is being called the wealthiest family in the world, with assets including a $490 million (₹4,078 crore) presidential palace, eight private jets, and even a football club.

Meet MBZ

UAE president Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also known as MBZ, heads this family, which has 18 brothers and 11 sisters. The Emirati royal also has nine children and 18 grandchildren.

Oil is swell

The family owns 6 per cent of the world's oil reserves, Manchester City football club and holds stakes in several firms, including Rihanna's beauty brand Fenty to Elon Musk's Space X.

700 cars

MBZ's younger brother Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan al Nahyan has a collection of over 700 cars including the world's largest SUV along with five Bugatti Veyrons, a Lamborghini Reventon, a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR, a Ferrari 599XX and a McLaren MC12.

Bigger than Pentagon

The family owns the Qasr Al-Watan presidential palace in Abu Dhabi. Spread across 94 acres, the palace has a chandelier made of 350,000 crystals and houses prized historic artefacts.

Money runs in family

Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, MBZ's brother, heads the family's chief investment company whose value shot by almost 28,000 per cent in the last five years. The company is now valued at $235 billion.

They own Manchester City

In 2008, MBZ's Abu Dhabi United Group bought the UK football team Manchester City for $255 million (₹2,122 crore). The family's company, the City Football Group, owns 81 percent of the football empire, managing clubs not only in the UK but also in India, Australia, and US.
