Doomsday theorists claim that six large asteroids will strike Earth on September 28, 2024, with the largest estimated to be up to 2.5 miles wide. They predict the impact will occur in Puerto Rico, leading to widespread destruction.
These predictions are tied to the “Blood Moon Prophecy,” which suggests the world will be destroyed after the final of four lunar eclipses, known as blood moons, over an 18-month period. The last blood moon is predicted to appear on September 28, fueling the doomsday claims.
Reverend Efraid Rodriguez, who is credited with spreading the prophecy, claimed to have had a vision of an asteroid striking Puerto Rico. He warned NASA about a potential magnitude 12 earthquake resulting from the impact.
NASA has firmly dismissed these predictions. Paul Chodas, manager of NASA’s Near-Earth Object office, stated there is no scientific evidence or data supporting the idea of an asteroid impact on that date or any time soon.
According to NASA, if a celestial object large enough to cause such devastation were on a collision course with Earth, it would have already been detected by their monitoring systems.
The Blood Moon Prophecy, a fringe theory, has gained attention in recent years, often tying lunar eclipses to apocalyptic scenarios. The theory is not supported by mainstream science, and experts have repeatedly debunked its predictions.
Despite the alarming claims, NASA reassures the public there is no need to worry. The agency continues to monitor near-Earth objects, and no large asteroid poses a threat in the near future.
