In Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma's party won 26 seats in the February 27 elections. Sangma was sworn in as the chief minister for a second consecutive term.
Conrad Sangma won from South Tura (ST) of Meghalaya by securing 13,342 with a vote share of 52.04%. His nearest rival, Bernard N Marak of the Bharatiya Janata Party, got 8,326 votes.
Conrad K Sangma declared that he has moveable assets worth Rs 4.47 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 9.59 crore.
In Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio took over as the chief minister for the fifth term. He's the only Nagaland CM to have served three consecutive terms and also win five consecutive terms as MLA.
Neiphiu Rio started his career with the erstwhile regional party United Democratic Front. He was first elected to Nagaland Legislative Assembly as a Congress candidate in 1989.
In 2003, Neiphiu Rio joined Naga People's Front and joined hands with the state BJP to form the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland.
Before the elections, Neiphiu Rio said he has assets worth Rs 46.95 crore. He has movable assets worth Rs 15.99 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 30.96 crore.
Neiphiu Rio won from the Northern Angami-II seat in 2023 with 17,045 votes while his rival Congress' Syievilie Sachu received 1,221 votes.
History was scripted in Nagaland when the state elected its first women legislators - Hekhani Jakhalu and Salhoutuonuo Kruse - in its 60 years of statehood.
