G20 Summit: More than 500 dishes to be served to foreign delegates; Millets-based delicacies included

New Delhi is all set to host the G20 Summit 2023 on September 9 and 10. Apart from the extensive security arrangements, the luxury hotels across the capital are making arrangements to serve curated meals to the guests.

During an interaction with ANI, Taj Hotel’s chef Surendra Negi said, “We are presenting both Indian and foreign components in food to the foreign delegation. As PM Modi told us to keep a focus on millets, we are including millets as an ingredient in many cuisines.”

The focus on millets is in line with the celebrations for the International Year of Millets. Chef Negi said, “We even have deserts made up of millets like ragi laddoos and barley kheer.”

He further said that they have arranged some special thalis as well. More than 500 Indian and international dishes will be served to the guests. More than 120 chefs are preparing the menu and will oversee the preparation of the meals during the two days of the G20 Summit.

As per reports, the G20 Summit delegates will be served dishes from different Indian states and cities.

Some of the dishes that are expected to be a part of the menu are Daal Baati, Litthi Chokha, Ragi barfi, Masala Dosa, Uthapam and Idli.

As part of the sweet dish, guests might be served Bengali Rasgulla and Jalebi.

Apart from the main course and sweets, there will also be a snacks counter which might serve Golgappa, Dahi Bhalla, Samosas and spicy chaat.

The G20 summit meetings will be held at 'Bharat Mandappam' at ITPO Convention Centre, Pragati Maidan. There, the ITC Maurya chefs will be cooking food for the G20 guests including US President Joe Biden, UK President Rishi Sunak and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
