In a significant development, Indian Railways has officially launched the production of the Vande Bharat sleeper train, marking the inception of a groundbreaking project set to revolutionise train travel in India.
The manufacturing of this sleeper train is a collaborative effort between BEML and ICF, Chennai, two giants in the Indian railway industry.
The production process was initiated at BEML's Bangalore complex, graced by the presence of esteemed individuals such as Naveen Gulati, Railway Board Member (Traction & Rolling Stock), BG Mallya, ICF GM, and Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML.
According to Indian Railways, the Vande Bharat sleeper trains are poised to deliver a travel experience that is nothing short of "world-class," designed to meet and even exceed global standards.
Passengers can expect top-tier interiors, featuring GFRP panels, a lightweight and corrosion-resistant material, combined with sleek and aerodynamic exteriors that promise to be visually appealing.
Safety remains at the forefront, with the inclusion of crash-worthy features to enhance passenger security, along with state-of-the-art modular pantry facilities and an ergonomically designed odour-free toilet system.
Modern passenger amenities will be an integral part of the Vande Bharat sleeper train, ensuring that travellers enjoy an exceptional journey.
The Vande Bharat sleeper train is a 16-coach marvel, capable of reaching speeds of 160 kmph, offering a total berth capacity of 823 for passengers.
The train will be equipped with technological advancements such as sensor-based intercommunication doors, automatic exterior passenger doors, and noise insulation measures to create a comfortable onboard environment.
Shantanu Roy, BEML's CMD, emphasised the train's mission: to set new benchmarks in passenger comfort by drawing inspiration from the superior models found in other countries. The ultimate goal is to revolutionise the travel experience, providing passengers with a comfortable, enjoyable, and efficient mode of long-distance transportation.
