India Approves Chandrayaan-4 and Manned Moon Mission

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the Indian government has approved the Chandrayaan-4 mission, which will aim to collect lunar samples and return them to Earth. Preparations for a manned mission to the moon have also received approval, marking the next major step in India's space exploration efforts.

Focus on Sample Collection

The Chandrayaan-4 mission is designed to build upon the success of its predecessor, Chandrayaan-3. It will focus on collecting samples from the lunar surface and ensuring their safe return to Earth, expanding India's lunar exploration capabilities.

Chandrayaan-3’s Key Achievements

Chandrayaan-3, launched earlier, successfully landed near the moon’s south pole, a first for any country. It conducted several experiments and provided valuable data on lunar soil and surface temperatures, boosting India’s presence in space research.

Manned Moon Mission Approved

India’s first manned mission to the moon has also been given the green light. The mission, still in its preparatory phase, represents a significant milestone in the country’s space ambitions.

Venus Orbiter Mission

Alongside lunar missions, the government approved the Venus Orbiter Mission, which will explore Venus's atmosphere and surface. This mission is a step toward expanding India’s interplanetary exploration portfolio.

Bharatiya Antariksh Station in the Pipeline

Plans for the Bharatiya Antariksh Station, India's own space station, have also received approval. The station will serve as a platform for long-term space research and support future deep-space missions.

New Generation Launch Vehicle Approved

To support upcoming missions, a new generation launch vehicle capable of carrying up to 30 tons to low Earth orbit has been approved. This will enhance India’s launch capabilities for heavier payloads in future missions.

Focus on Gaganyaan and Beyond

The follow-up to the Gaganyaan mission, India’s first human spaceflight project, has also received approval. These missions collectively represent India’s growing ambitions in space exploration, aiming for greater self-reliance and technological advancements.
