The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), an arm of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is providing a free certificate course focusing on Remote Sensing, Geographic Information System (GIS), and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies.
This course is designed for a wide range of audience, including students, technical and scientific professionals, university instructors, researchers, and individuals in related fields.
IIRS, part of ISRO and the Department of Space under the Government of India, is a premier training and educational institute for science and technology. It was founded in 1966 and is South-East Asia's first institute of its kind.
The increasing use of remote sensing, GIS, GNSS, and related geospatial technologies has created a pressing need for trained personnel. The distance learning program is delivered in a live and interactive mode via an Internet-based platform and is completely free for users.
The program includes live and interactive sessions conducted by experts from IIRS-ISRO and other knowledge institutions. Participants will gain insights into the practical applications of technology across sectors such as agriculture, forestry, ecology, and more.
Participants will have access to lectures, recorded video sessions, open-source software, and demonstration materials through the E-CLASS and ISRO Learning Management System, enriching the learning experience.
The course offers 10,000 seats for the comprehensive program and an additional 5,000 seats for individual modules. Nodal centre coordinators also have an allocation of 25 seats for each course.
Participants who successfully complete at least 70 percent of the total session hours will receive a course completion certificate, enhancing their professional qualifications.
The course is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, regardless of their academic year, and to technical and scientific personnel from central or state governments, faculty, researchers, and professionals in technical and scientific fields.
The course is scheduled to run from November 6 to 17, 2023, and registration remains open until November 3, 2023, offering a valuable opportunity for learning and skill enhancement.
