In the Amitabh Kant-led team, there were four Indian Foreign Services officers who burnt the midnight oil to draft the New Delhi G20 Leaders Declaration, which achieved a reported ‘100% consensus’. These four diplomats who created the New Delhi declaration were Abhay Thakur, Ashish Sinha, Nagaraj Naidu Kakanur, and the only woman among the four Enam Gambhir

Eenam Gambhir is currently serving as a joint secretary G20 and the ministry of External Affairs. A 2005-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, Gambhir deals with handling G20-related issues including the preparations for India's G20 Presidency. She holds two master’s degrees from Delhi University and master’s in advanced international security from the University of Geneva
Eenam Gambhir previously served as a senior adviser on Peace and Security issues in the Office of the President of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN HQ in New York. She has also served in Indian embassies in Latin American countries such as Mexico and Argentina
Eenam Gambhir has dealt with issues relating to India’s neighbourhood especially Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran in different capacities while working in New Delhi from 2011 till 2016. Eenam Gambhir served in the permanent mission of India to the UN in New York and covered political and peace and security issues till June 2019
Nagaraj Naidu Kakanur, currently serving as a joint secretary, is the Chinese speaker in Amitabh Kant's G20 team. He was reportedly a lead negotiator on the Ukraine conflict paragraphs. Kakanur has served as the chef de cabinet to the President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Prior to this, he was the deputy permanent representative of India to the United Nations
A career diplomat, Kakanur is a 1998-batch Indian Foreign Service officer. He has a master’s in law and diplomacy from Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, and is a fluent Chinese speaker and has served in China in four separate stints. After his return to the foreign ministry in New Delhi, he served as the joint secretary/director general of the economic diplomacy division in the ministry of external affairs from 2015 to 2017
Ashish Sinha is another 2005 batch IFS officer. He is fluent in Spanish, and has served in Madrid, Kathmandu, New York and Nairobi. In New Delhi, he worked in the External Affairs Minister’s office and as a desk officer for Pakistan
A Russian speaker, Abhay Thakur, is the Additional Secretary, the Sous-sherpa, No. 2 to India’s G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant. He has been India’s envoy to Mauritius and Nigeria, and has handled Nepal and Bhutan in the Ministry of External Affairs. Thakur has also been a director in the External Affairs Minister’s office
