Tribal labourer Dashmat Rawat was awarded a compensation of Rs 6.5 lakh from the Madhya Pradesh government after Pravesh Shukla was captured on camera urinating on him
This comes after Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Dashmat Rawat and washed his feet at the CM House in Bhopal. "I was pained to see that video. I apologise to you. People are like a God to me," the Chief Minister said
Dashmat Rawat said in a statement, “I met the minister and it felt good, he called up my family and spoke to them”
Pravesh Shukla was arrested on accusations of urinating on Rawat after the video of the same went viral. He was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 294 (obscene acts), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act
Soon after the public outrage on the incident, the house of Ramakant Shukla, father of the accused Pravesh Shukla, was found to be unlawfully constructed. Hence, the illegal part was demolished
Pravesh Shukla is allegedly a representative of BJP MLA Kedarnath Shukla from Sidhi. However, Kedarnath, the BJP MLA, has denied any connection with Pravesh. BJP leaders have tweeted saying that Pravesh has no connection with the party
Pravesh has been charged with multiple sections including Sections 294, 504, and Section 3(1)(r)(s) of the SC/ST Act. The National Security Act has been invoked against the accused too
The person who shot the viral video of Pravesh Shukla urinating on Dashmat Rawat was also thrashed by the accused. Pravesh reportedly forced the said person to shoot the video too
The MP Police said that the incident took place nine days ago but came to light after the video went viral on social media
