Tit for tat?

Pakistan retaliated on Thursday against "terror hideouts" in Iran, a day after warning Tehran of "serious consequences" over its attack on Balochi group Jaish al-Adl's HQ in its territory.

Marg Bar Sarmachar

"A number of terrorists" were killed in the in the op codenamed "Marg Bar Sarmachar", Pakistan said. Iranian media, however, reported that 7 people including 4 children were killed in the attack.

Brotherly country

Calling Iran a "brotherly country", Islamabad said the action was a "manifestation of Pakistan's unflinching resolve" to defend its national security against all threats.

Intel shared

Pakistan said it has shared intel with Iran on the safe havens of Pakistani origin terrorists calling themselves 'Sarmachars' on their territory.

Iran didn't act

Pakistan said it had to step in because Iran did not take adequate action. The morning action was taken in light of credible intelligence, Islamabad said.

Unprovoked, violation of law

Iran targeted two bases of Jaish al-Adl in Pakistan's Balochistan, which Islamabad called blatant breach of its sovereignty.

Who are Jaish al-Adl?

Blacklisted by Iran as a terrorist group, it was formed in 2012 and has carried out several attacks on Iranian soil in recent years.
