Pakistan conducted air strikes on Thursday targeting militants within Iranian territory, responding to Iran's previous air strike on bases of the militant group Jaish al-Adl in Balochistan, Pakistan. Reportedly, 7 people were killed in the strike.

Pakistan's Condemnation

Iran's air strike on Jaish al-Adl bases resulted in the death of two children and injuries to three others, prompting Pakistan to condemn Iran for violating its sovereignty and airspace.

Right to Respond

Pakistan asserted its right to respond to what it deemed an "illegal act" by Iran, launching air strikes on militant targets inside Iranian borders.

Diplomatic Tensions

In retaliation, Pakistan recalled its ambassador to Iran and barred the Iranian ambassador from returning. This incident has heightened diplomatic tensions between the two nations.

Breach of International  Norms

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry expressed grave concern over the breach of international norms, highlighting that the attack occurred despite established communication channels between the two nations.

Shared Border and  Security Concerns

The incident exacerbates existing tensions between Iran and Pakistan, both accused of harbouring militant groups involved in cross-border attacks. The approximately 900 km shared border has long been a security concern for both nations.

India's Stance

India distanced itself from the Iran-Pakistan tensions, emphasizing its zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. China urged both nations to exercise restraint, calling for actions that maintain regional peace and stability.
