President Droupadi Murmu hosted a prestigious G20 dinner event on Saturday night in New Delhi, graced by the presence of international leaders, delegates and several chief ministers from Indian states.
In a display of bipartisan unity, chief ministers from various states attended the gala event. Notable attendees included Bihar's Nitish Kumar, Jharkhand's Hemant Soren, and West Bengal's Mamata Banerjee, all representing opposition parties.
The dinner featured round tables, each bearing labels representing different rivers in India, such as Krishna, Yamuna, Brahmaputra, and Ganga, symbolising the diverse and culturally rich heritage of the country.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was captured dining alongside Union Home Minister Amit Shah, underscoring the fellowship among political leaders.
Despite the grandeur of the occasion, some prominent leaders were notably absent. Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan's Ashok Gehlot, Odisha's Naveen Patnaik, and Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal chose not to attend the event.
Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel cited travel restrictions as the reason for his absence, as non-scheduled flights were prohibited in and out of the national capital due to G20 Summit security measures. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs clarified to the state that while a high-tech security air cover has been deployed for G20 Leaders’ Summit at Delhi on 8-11 September 2023, movement of Governors and State Chief Ministers on their State aircrafts were allowed.
Alongside Indian State Chief Ministers, several distinguished world leaders and dignitaries also made a fashion statement by wearing Indian attire upon their arrival at the G20 dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Bharat Mandapam.
IMF’s Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath wore a Red and Blue colour Saree for G20 Gala Night alongside the UK’s First Lady Akshata Murty wearing a colourful Indo-Western attire. Japan’s First Lady Yuko Kishida was also seen wearing a saree during the dinner.
