India has won six medals so far on the sixth day of Asian Games 2023 at Hangzhou, China. Four medals came from shooting events while one came from squash and tennis each

Asian Games 2023: Day 6

The team of Indian shooters Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Kusale and Akhil Sheoran has won a gold medal in the Men’s 50m Rifle Shooting 3P event. The trio posted a remarkable score of 1769 points while the hosts China came in second with 1763. The Indian team has also surpassed the record set by the USA's team in Peru last year by eight points. Both Kusale and Tomar have also qualified for the final round of the individual event

50m Rifle 3P Team

Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar won a silver medal in the individual Men’s 50m Rifle 3P shooting event. He posted a remarkable score of 459.7 while his teammate Swapnil Kusale came fourth with a score of 438.9 points. This is Tomar’s second medal of the day after winning the gold in the team event

The other Indian shooting team of Esha Singh, Palak Gulia and Divya Thaadigol Subbaraju also won a silver medal in the Women’s 10 Air Pistol team event. The three women scored a total of 1731 points, just five less than the gold winning-Chinese team, who broke the previous Asian Games record. Esha Singh and Palak also qualified for the individual Women’s 10m Air Pistol event

The duo of Palak Gulia and Esha Singh won both gold and silver medals respectively in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol individual event. The 17-year-old Gulia broke the Asian Games record with a score of 242.1 points to win the gold

Indian shooter Esha Singh clinched the silver medal in Women’s 10m Air Pistol individual event with a score of 239.7 points. The 18-year-old has won four medals for the nation in this edition of the Asian Games in China. She has won a gold in Women’s 25m pistol team event and a silver each in 25m pistol individual event, 10m air pistol team event and 10m pistol individual event

Esha Singh’s Medals

After Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar’s silver in the 50m Rifle event, India’s medal tally in the shooting events has gone up to 18. India has won six gold, seven silver and five bronze medals in shooting events. This is India’s best performance in the sport since the 2006 Asian Games in Qatar

India’s women’s squash team of Tanvi Khanna, Joshana Chinappa and Anahat Singh won a bronze medal after losing to Hong Kong by 2-1. Khanna lost the first match but then Chinappa won a five round thriller to level the score. In the last match Anahat Singh fought bravely but ultimately lost to the reigning champions Hong Kong

Indian tennis duo Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni lost their gold medal match 6-4, 6- 4 against the Chinese Taipei team to settle for a silver medal. The pair took an early lead of 2-1 and both ultimately failed to hold it

Asian Games 2023: Men’s Doubles Tennis

Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosle have reached the final round of Mixed Doubles Tennis at the Asian Games. The duo won their semi-final against Chinese Taipei’s Yuhsiou Hsu and Hao-ching Chang team by a score of 6-1, 3-6, 10-4. The Indian team will now face the other Chinese Taipei duo, Tsung-hao Huang and En-shuo Liang in the gold medal match on Saturday

Asian Games 2023: Mixed Doubles Tennis

Indian swimmer Sajan Prakash has reached the final round of 200m butterfly swimming event after coming sixth in the qualifying round with a time of 1:58.40. The 30-year-old former National champion was 5.10 seconds behind the qualifying round winner Tomoru Honda of Japan
