BCCI is all set to host the IPL auction 2024 today at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. This will be the first time that the IPL auction is held outside of India. Out of 333 players up for auction, only 77 players will be selected.
The IPL Auction is set to begin at 1pm IST. It will be live telecast on the Sports18 network and live streamed on Jio Cinema app.
IPL had already released the list of retained and released players followed by the base prices of those cricketers who will be up for auction today. Gujarat Titans' now ex-skipper Hardik Pandya, who had led the team to the IPL 2023 finals, had been bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 15 crore as an annual fee as part of an all-cash deal.
Only 3 Indian players - Shardul Thakur, Harshal Patel, Umesh Yadav - have made it to Rs 2 crore base price category. Only 14 Indian capped players are up for grab. Apart from the above, Manish Pandey who has registered himself for Rs 15 lakh category is also a strong contender.
Most of the Indian players are with a base price of Rs 50 Lakh. This includes Varun Aaron, KS Bharat, Siddharth Kaul, Shivam Mavi, Karun Nair, Manish Pandey, Chetan Sakariya, Barinder Sran, Jaydev Unadkat, Hanuma Vihari and Sandeep Warrier.
After a successful 23-year career in art auctioneering, she is set to become the first female auctioneer at the richest franchise cricket league in the world when she takes the stage at the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) 2024 auction in Dubai.
Mallika Sagar succeeds former IPL auctioneer Hugh Edmeades, who conducted four IPL auctions, from 2019 through to 2022, when he collapsed midway during the Bengaluru IPL auction event.
Many of the IPL teams are co-owned by celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Shilpa Shetty, Preity Zinta and others. Aryan Khan and Jahnavi Mehta, Juhi Chawla's daughter, were spotted together at the Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) table during an earlier edition of the IPL auction.
Suhana Khan has also accompanied Shah Rukh Khan at a previous IPL auction. It is unclear if the superstar will attend the auction this time as SRK is in another part of UAE to promote his film 'Dunki'.
